A must read for Mums who mean business

I'm so impressed with Mel McGee's book, she embodies 'Supermummy' herself without ever making you as though her success is unattainable. In fact, throughout her book, her encouragement, firm but encouraging tone and brilliant advice just oozes Supermummy appeal and will help any mum who's trying to get her business off the ground think about 'success' in a totally different way. Peppered with 'Supertips', take time soaking up all the information you can in this book and then work out how to use it in your own business and adapt it to make your own family commitments work and you'll become your very own Superhero - Well done Supermummy - definately a job well done!  Perfect accompaniment your new life as a mum

Just at the time when your self esteem is at rock bottom, you're tired, stressed, and getting over giving birth. On top of all this - some super-power (namely the government!) is expecting you to get back to the rat race and start paying taxes! Don't they realise that there are more important things? Like spending quality time with your baby, for one. Fortunately there is another way. Armed with the sound practical advice in Supermummy, you can create your own flexible workplace - that will fit in
with your children - and do something that you love. Setting up in business alone used to be a brave new frontier, only
undertaken by men in suits. But Supermummy shows how with your new supermummy-powers you can enter the world of "mumpreneurship" and make a wild success of your own business. Apart from being an excellent and grounded business tool, this is a brilliant gift for the new mum. S.J Haswell

A book that will get you out of the 9-5 grind!

I started my marketing business seven years ago and as a mum to one and then two children, there was very little help or information on how to set up and run your own business. As I had come from a corporate role and so had my business partner we ran the business based on those principles i.e. 9-5 days and also ended up working weekends. So in fact there was very little change from working in corporate land.

I read this book from cover to cover when I got it and just wish that I had this book back then. It would have saved a lot of guess work and even though I have got a much better work life balance now it has still given me some great ideas. I especially liked the chapters on how to believe in yourself and your talents, as that is half the battle when you are setting up your own business. Mel has some very sound advice for women that want to work but don't want the grind of a 9-5 job and the nursery/school run or a part time job that is unfulfilling. I spent the first 3 years of my first daughter's life feeling, tired, emotional and stressed in a senior role - for what to spend most of the weekend feeling exhausted and start all over again on Monday. Read the book, take her advice and start taking control of your life and work for yourself, it's the best thing that you could ever do. Joanne Morley, Brighter Marketing

Success guide for all mumpreneurs

This book is a fantastic compilation of good advice for people at whatever stage they are in thinking about, starting or running their own business around a busy family life. The neat size of the book means it can be taken anywhere (easily fits in handbag!), which helped me read it when I had the odd unexpected 5 minutes spare. The author's writing style, combined with simple but effective illustrations make the book an easy read, which is essential for busy mums who might be trying to balance family with planning a business - and possibly already an existing job. The advice is useful whether you're someone who wants to evaluate running a business, or whether you're already determined to run your own business but just don't know where to start. The `Supertips' are as helpful as the information about what not to do, and the spaces left to write your thoughts and ideas just add to the book's worth. Although written with mums in mind, the business advice in the book is relevant to anyone starting or already running a business, with important information about subjects including marketing, time management and motivation.

A very handy introduction to how to create the ideal flexible lifestyle! C. Bratton

 A fabulous Book for Mumpreneurs

Mel McGee's book is an inspiration and one that I wish I'd had to hand when I launched my online business Be Fabulous.
Easy to read and even easier to understand, a must-have book for any woman looking to start her own business. Karen Davis, Be Fabulous

All the encouragement you need to succeed!

In this book Mel McGee has produced a blueprint for any aspiring mumpreneur. Having started her own online business around 2 small children she has done the ground work for you, providing a treasure trove of online resources for every aspect of your new or growing business. The book is written in an easy to read, accessible format and is full of encouragement, highlighting the skills all mums have that are equally transferable to the business world. Always encouraging, Mel walks you through each stage of starting a business, step and by - and maybe more importantly dispels all the reasons you may convince yourself you can't do it! The exercises in each chapter are a call to action and the `Supertips' are little nuggets of information or inspiration to focus the mind. Full of energy, enthusiasm and her own `mumentum', this is both a practical and inspirational read, and if you long to be your own boss and have it all, then it will seem as if Mel is speaking directly to you - as it did to me! Sam Pearce, Mums The Boss

We can all be Supermummy with this book!

This book is aimed at mums who have just started or are thinking of starting a business, as it has lots of tips and information for coming up with a business idea and promoting this new venture. One thing I always look for as a business mum, is advice from people who `walk the talk'. I'm quite choosy about who I listen to just because I want to know that if you are telling me a way to do something, that you understand what it is like to be in my shoes, and this book doesn't disappoint on that score. The writer, Mel McGee obviously writes from experience, knowing the little barriers that many mums put up to stop themselves from achieving great things, and Mel shows you how to remove them. There are some really powerful messages in the book around stopping limiting beliefs, something I've had to deal with in my past as a Mumpreneur and I know many Mumpreneur friends have too.

The book starts by building the reader's confidence that they can start a business and the chapters are sprinkled with `Supertips' to help you along the way. One message that rings out loud and clear from the book is that nothing is achieved without ACTION! And I fully agree - ideas are great but it is putting them into action that makes the money.
Even if you don't have a business idea but are thinking that you'd like to start a business, then this book gives you some useful exercises to get started and help you create your money making idea
I really liked the tip about trying out your sales message on your kids or your mum. If they can understand the benefits of your business, you've cracked it! This is a great way to check that you are delivering the right message to your potential clients and getting to the point quickly and coherently. I worked in marketing for more than a decade before starting up my business as a Virtual Assistant and have never heard it said quite so succinctly before!
All in all, a very practical book loaded with advice. If you are looking for both a guide-book on starting a business and a cheerleader to encourage you along the way, this book is it! Nadine Hill, The Dream PA
